Clinical and Biomedical Sciences

I am a consultant in Diabetes, Endocrinology and Internal Medicine and BRC mid-career Research Fellow supported by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Exeter Biomedical Research Centre (BRC). My core research interests include the epidemiology and treatment of type 3c diabetes (T3cD), treatment outcomes in type 2 diabetes (T2D), and optimising the treatment of gestational diabetes. My work has been cited in international diabetes management guidelines, including those by the World Health Organization (WHO), the American Diabetes Association (ADA) and European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD).

My current research in T3cD focuses on understanding who is at highest risk for developing T3cD, what treatments are effective for T3cD, and what clinical features predict treatment success. My other research projects include implementing insulin dose self-management in women with gestational diabetes and supporting treatment outcomes prediction modelling in T2D.
