Postdoctoral Research Fellow
Clinical and Biomedical Sciences

I obtained my PhD in biomedical engineering in China in 2005. During my PhD, I purified and characterized a plant peptide and studied its function on the regulation of insulin secretion and glucose metabolism. After my PhD, I moved to Sweden and worked as a research fellow at the Department of Neuroscience, Karolinska Institute and studied the expression pattern of neuropeptides in injured peripheral nerves as well as their functions in peripheral nerve regeneration. From 2007 to 2021, I worked at the Peninsula Medical School (Plymouth) as a research fellow and later as a Senior Research Fellow and studied neuronal migration in brain development, peripheral nerve injury and regeneration, Schwann cell biology and peripheral demyelinating neuropathies. I have 28 years of fulltime research experiences and so far, published 47 research articles, review papers and book chapters. My recent research applied single cell and spatial transcriptomics and proteomics to identify tissue and organ specific cell types and cell trajectories in human health and diseases.
